Safety

Gates should not only add security and value to your home, they need to be safe for those who use them. Two recent tragedies involving electric automated gates and children have resulted in new strict guidelines issued by the Health and Safety Executive from September 2010. This proscribes how gates should be designed, installed and commissioned and tested prior to completion and hand over to the end user.

Every gate designed and installed by Chew Valley Gates will meet the following exacting BS and EN standards:

BS EN 12453:2001: Industrial, commercial and garage doors and gates

– Safety in use of power operated doors – Requirements.

BS EN 12445:2001: Industrial commercial and garage doors and gates.

– Safety in use of power operated doors – Test methods.

BS EN 12635:2002: Industrial, commercial and garage doors and gates.

– Installation and use.

BS EN 12604:2000: Industrial, commercial and garage doors and gates.

– Mechanical aspects requirements.

Every installation we carry out comes with an impact test results pack for your peace of mind.
